Staff Awareness Programme

Iris works alongside age UK to offer a full extensive training programme. This is free of charge and you will be accredited with a certificate upon completion.

This allows you to give each individual the best care, which they deserve and to fully understand their optical needs and requirements.

The course covers the most common questions and concerns regarding eye health and the eye test itself.

Course Programme

• Understanding good communication skills, including empathy
• Blocks to good communication
• Sensory loss and the ageing process
• Communicating with clients who have sensory loss
• Communicating with clients who display behaviour that others may find challenging
• Communicating with clients who are confused or suffering from the symptoms of dementia
• Communicating with clients who have had a stroke
• Question and answer session
• Distribution of certificates, evaluation forms and action plans

This course is open to any staff member that is involved in care and is available upon request. We are flexible working alongside yourselves so if you have any new staff joining or if you feel you need a refresher course we can accommodate your needs and provide the training course at a time suitable to you.
